Lucille S. Meyer, 102, died peacefully, December 7, 2015, in the home of her son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Jo Ann, in the Woodlands, Texas.
Lucille was born Aug. 18, 1913, to Everett B. Spears and Rachel Steuart in Montgomery City, Missouri.
She completed public schools there and graduated from Christian College in Columbia, Missouri.
Lucille was happily married to Paul Meyer in 1939 until his death in 2003.
Lucille’s daughter, Rachel Ann, predeceased her in 2011.
Lucille lived in New London, Hermann, and Brookfield, Missouri, until 1994 when she and Paul moved to Overland Park, Kansas, to be closer to Rachel and John Holtmann.
Lucille was a loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed teaching piano lessons and playing the organ at churches while living in Missouri. In 2004, she relocated to Jim’s and Jo Ann’s in Texas.
In addition to Lucille’s son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Jo Ann, she is survived by son-in-law John Holtmann of Overland Park, Kansas.
Other survivors are granddaughter Katherine Cleveland, and husband, Bill; great-grandchildren Max, Abbie and Lucy of Prairie Village, Kansas; grandson Andrew Holtmann and wife Mary; great-grandson Cy Anthony of Kansas City; grandson Michael Meyer and Polly of Redmond, Washington; granddaughter Rachel C. Meyer and Zack Stegeman; and great-granddaughter Lexi of Kearney, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri. The Rev. Ed Hankinson will officiate and interment of ashes will take place next to her husband at the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, Missouri.
