Mary (Harris) Campbell Turner died in Vancouver, WA, Thursday, June 25, 2015.
Mary was warm and giving, funny and kind. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Her family will always be grateful for her life. They will gather in Brookfield in October to celebrate and remember her. The family hopes that many who knew Mary will join them in that celebration of her life. Details about the date and time will be announced in the Linn County Leader prior to the October celebration.
She was born in Brookfield on April 27, 1925, to Beulah (Bozarth) Harris and John G. Harris, Sr. On October 16, 1944, she married Robert L. Campbell, DVM.
She graduated from Brookfield High School in 1943. The couple raised their four daughters in Brookfield, who active in the community throughout their lives.
Mary Turner moved from Brookfield, MO to Vancouver, WA in 2011, to be near her daughter, Beth Hovee. She lived at Highgate Senior Living, and recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
Mary attended the University of Missouri and met Robert Campbell, who worked at the School of Veterinary Medicine. They married in October of 1944 and settled in their hometown of Brookfield. As a mother of four daughters, Mary was a master seamstress, chauffeur, boat captain, diplomat, and much more.
She is survived by her four daughters, Jane Melton (Joe), Rochester, MN, Ann Gilroy (Jim), Murrietta, CA, Sue Campbell (Denis Clegg), Palo Alto, CA, and Beth Hovee (Eric), Vancouver, WA.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years; Robert L. Campbell; and her second husband, Robert D. Turner; her brother and sister-in-law, John G. Harris, Jr. and Charlene Harris.
